KERALA PRAWNS CURRY

PRAWN FISH

Ingredients

Lime juice                              -        1

fresh Prawn cleaned                -        400 gms

Turmeric Powder                    -        1 tsp

Salt                                         -        per taste

For the green paste:

 sliced Coconut                      -        1 cup

Coriander Leaves                   -        1 cup

Garlic cloves                           -        9-10

Cumin Seed                            -        1 tsp

Turmeric Powder                    -        ½ tsp

Fenugreek seeds                     -        a pinch

Onion sliced                              -        ½

Ginger chopped                         -        1 inch

Green Chillies                          -        4-5

Corriander Seeds                     -        1.5 tbsp

Tamarind without seed           -        1 small ball

water                                       -        ½ cup

For the curry:

Coconut oil                             -        2 tbsp

onion chopped finely              -        ½

big sized Potato                     -        1

Curry Leaves                         -        8-10

Tomato chopped                    -        1

Drumsticks chopped              -        2

water                                     -        2 cups

Salt                                        -        per taste

Coriander Leaves                    -        few

 Method:

 

Marinate prawns with lime juice, salt and turmeric powder. Place aside for 10-15 mins.

 

 Meanwhile keep all the ingredients for the paste ready.

 

 Grind all the ingredients for the green paste with water until smooth.

 

 The paste would look like this.

 

 Keep all the ingredients handy for the curry.

 

 Peel the potato skin and chop them into cubes.

 

 Heat oil in a pan and saute chopped onion.

  

Saute until onion are light brown.

 Add the marinated prawns and saute for 2 mins.

 Now add the cubed potatoes.

 Also add curry leaves. Mix all well.

 Put the chunk of tomatoes.

 Stir and cook for 2-3 mins.

 Add the grounded green paste.

 Stir nicely.

 

 Simmer for 1-2 mins. 

 Now add water accordingly with salt as per taste.

 Cook for 4- 5 mins more.

 Finally add the drumsticks and salt. Cook for 2-3 mins.

 

 Semi – cover and cook for 3-4 mins more or until potatoes are soft and tender.

 Serve your Kerala  prawns curry recipe hot with steamed rice or buns.
